Lansdowne Lane is a mews site located to the rear of a large period property in commercial use. The lane has seen substantial development over the years, and our proposal for a high-end commercial let property sought to re-address the pastiche developments in the lane by introducing a contemporary, clean design that takes consideration of the set back proportions of the Victorian properties in the immediate area.
The use of textured concrete, steel and glass creates a new language along the laneway, whilst referencing the solid mass of the parent property. These stepped solid forms are punctuated by elongated elegant openings into which once can see a glimpse to the inner world of what lies beyond. Textured steel screens conceal internal gardens and courtyards, that allow light into the floorplans, whilst maintaining privacy along the lane.
