Fortfield

  • Stage: Complete 2011
  • Location: South Dublin
  • Client: Private
  • Budget: Undisclosed
  • Floor: Additional 55 sq.m

With an impressive garden to the rear, the client required additional rooms upstairs and a complete re-organisation of how the ground floor spaces were used.

The new kitchen and dining room were placed to the rear of the house, angled to take in existing views of mature trees in order to frame them through certain picture windows.

An upstairs projected overhang to the master bedroom allows cover for an outdoor play area for the children, and gives the aesthetic of one box floating over another.

The intricate brick detailing allows the brick reveals to act as solar screens to prevent high level summer sun from projecting deep into the plan which is fully South facing, but allows low level Winter sun to penetrate in the colder months.
