This long corner site facing onto Kenilworth Lane East is part of a subdivided garden of a protected structure on Kenilworth Road.

The integration of the original granite boundary wall, which runs along the side of the site, into the lower level of the building informs the passer-by of the original garden size of the period property and reduces the visual impact of the development on the laneway.

The North corner of the site is realigned to ease vehicular movement on the corner of the laneway, and the use of a linear handmade brick at the first-floor level grounds the two-story elements of the building. The insertion of a large recess at the mid-point of the side elevation, reduces the building mass along this edge, offering a moment of respite internally, as well as externally.
